Job summary

Sandwell Council is seeking a Principal Planning Officer to lead the Development Management team, overseeing processing of planning applications, enforcement work and development planning input. You will prepare reports and decision notices, negotiate Section 106 agreements and represent the Council at inquiries, hearings and written representations.

Essential requirements include MRTPI or ARICS, a Town Planning degree, RTPI membership with five years post-qualification, and a full driving

Qualifications

• Town planning degree (RTPI recognised)
• MRTPI or ARICS membership with post-qualification experience

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor the performance of the Development Planning team
• Process planning, Listed Buildings, Advertisements and related applications and prepare reports
• Negotiate Section 106 agreements to secure urban design improvements
• Represent the Council at Planning Inquiries, hearings and written representations
• Liaise with agencies, organisations and stakeholders on planning issues
