Job summary

Sandwell Council is seeking a Principal Planning Officer to lead the Development Planning team. You will oversee processing of planning applications, statements and related reports, ensuring compliance with the Development Plan and guidance.

You will work with partners and contribute to the monitoring of the Development Plan and planning enforcement. You will present complex planning information, negotiate Section 106 agreements, and provide guidance to officers and elected members.

Qualifications

• MRTPI or ARICS (Planning Division) is required or recognised RTPI qualification.
• Degree in Town and Country Planning or equivalent.
• Postgraduate qualification recognised by RTPI.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor a team of officers in Development Planning and meet performance targets.
• Process planning, Listed Buildings, Advertisements and related applications and prepare reports and decision notices.
• Liaise with agencies and stakeholders on planning issues affecting Development Planning.
