Job description

Carrington West is assisting their local authority client based in the West Midlands in the search for a Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management team in the Town Planning department on an initial 3-month contract.

The client is seeking a case worker to manage a caseload of minor planning applications. The role involves leading on new planning application submissions, including extensions, lawful developments, and changes of use (dwellings between 1-10). The ideal candidate will have at least a couple of years' experience (or more) and be capable of handling their own workload with minimal supervision.

Experience working with members of the public is preferred but not essential. Familiarity with the APAS software used in the department is desirable. A postgraduate degree in planning, regeneration, or a related discipline, along with eligibility for RTPI membership, would be advantageous.

The council seeks candidates who can start immediately and offers a modern, welcoming office environment.

Carrington West Pay Rate - £45 per hour (Negotiable depending on experience)
