Overview

A busy and progressive local authority in Hertfordshire is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management service. Located close to Greater London, the authority faces several development issues, and this post plays an important role managing applications for a range of development proposals. The postholder will help deliver high quality housing and economic growth, while maintaining Broxbourne as an attractive place to live, work and visit.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a varied personal caseload including major, complex and other planning applications for sites across the Borough within the Development Management service.
  • Present reports to the Planning and Regulatory Committee on behalf of the Service when required.
  • Assist and mentor junior officers and technicians and provide advice and guidance where required.
  • Work with planning colleagues, developers, agents, elected Members and other stakeholders to support the Development Management service.
  • Contribute to delivering high quality planning solutions through sound development management processes.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Eligible for membership of the RTPI, ideally with a minimum of 3 years' development management experience.
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills; good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to converse with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English.
  • Full driving licence and the ability to undertake site visits and inspections.
