The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a commercially astute Senior Planning Manager to play a pivotal role in the business’s planning function. Reporting to the Planning Director, you will oversee the delivery of planning strategies across a diverse project portfolio. You will manage planning processes from Local Plan promotion through to application, appeal, and consent, ensuring commercially aligned planning outcomes that optimise land value for both the business and its landowner partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of planning strategies across current and future land interests.
  • Lead Local Plan representations, outline and detailed applications, appeals, and consultation strategies.
  • Manage and coordinate external planning consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide planning advice and due diligence support during land acquisition and promotion.
  • Monitor evolving planning policy at both local and national levels to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Represent the business at meetings with LPAs, landowners, consultants, and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective programme and budget management for planning projects, with timely reporting to the senior leadership team.

Candidate Profile

  • Chartered Member of the RTPI (or working towards) with 8–12 years’ experience in strategic planning, ideally within land promotion, housebuilding, or consultancy.
  • Strong technical understanding of the UK planning system, policy, and Local Plan promotion.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Commercially aware, solution-focused, and confident operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Ambitious and proactive, with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture.

What’s On Offer

  • The opportunity to influence planning outcomes at a strategic level.
  • Executive remuneration with performance-based incentives.
  • Exposure to high-profile and high-value land promotion schemes.
  • A collaborative, entrepreneurial environment with long-term progression prospects.
