Job summary

Hernshead Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Planning Manager to lead the Civils Division's planning function, shaping strategic objectives and delivering hands-on senior planning on named contracts.

You will establish common practices, maintain the Planning Manual, produce robust contract and recovery programmes, ensure accurate progress reporting, and oversee the planning team. Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project and solid knowledge of NEC/JCT/FIDIC are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• Significant experience in a senior planning role within civil engineering or infrastructure contracting.
• Proficient in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Quality management within a construction environment.
• Experience in a utilities, energy, or cable/ducting environment.
• NEC3/4, JCT and FIDIC knowledge desirable, given the role supports surveyors on programme-related claims and EOT submissions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning function and set strategic objectives for the Civils Division.
• Establish, develop, and regularly review common working practices across the planning function
• Manage the production of contract programmes and progress reporting throughout the project lifecycle
• Produce recovery programmes and ensure 'as-built' programmes are in accordance with procedures
• Maintain a Primavera P6 central database at head office
• Oversee tender planning and develop robust tender programmes
• Communicate programme information to stakeholders and influence decisions
• Lead and manage the planning team, including recruitment and staff development
