An established local authority in London is seeking a skilled Planning Lawyer for a 3-month locum position. Venn Group’s legal team are working with a reputable Local Authority in their search for a Planning Lawyer to join their team on a 3 month locum basis.
The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced Solicitor/ CILEX Lawyer/Barrister with aproven track recordof successfully managing Planning legal matters within Local Government.
Job Description
Qualifications and Experience:
- Responsible for managing a caseload of planning law matters, including Section 106 agreements, enforcement prosecutions, and planning appeals.
- Handling planning applications and appeals.
- Providing advice on local plans.
- Offering strategic planning guidance, including due diligence before site acquisitions.
- Advising on highways and infrastructure law, such as stopping up orders, highway licenses, and Section 278 and Section 38 agreements.
- Required to deliver legal advice to the planning service based on the Council’s business requirements.
- Must possess strong knowledge of relevant legislation, current case law, court procedures in both criminal and civil courts, and experience in drafting legal documents, correspondence, and providing legal counsel.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Must be a qualified solicitor or barrister or legal executive with a current practising certificate
- Knowledge and understanding of the political nature of local government and democratic process
- Resilient and committed, remaining composed under pressure
