Reading Borough Council is seeking a Senior Lawyer - Planning & Highways to provide specialist legal advice across planning and highways, supporting major development and infrastructure projects within the borough.

You will manage a varied caseload, draft and negotiate planning agreements, advise committees and officers, and mentor junior staff while maintaining high professional standards and strong client relationships.

Qualifikationen

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of CILEX with current practising certificate in England.
• Significant post-qualification experience advising on planning and highways.
• Experience drafting and negotiating planning obligations, highways agreements and related documentation.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to supervise colleagues and deputise for a Principal Lawyer.

Aufgaben

• Advise on planning law, highways law and related regulatory matters.
• Draft, negotiate and complete Section 106 and Section 278 agreements and other planning-related documents.
• Support major regeneration, development and infrastructure projects.
• Advise Planning Committees, officers and elected members on complex legal issues.
• Provide legal advice on planning enforcement, compulsory purchase and public rights of way matters.
• Represent the Council in negotiations, inquiries, hearings and court proceedings where appropriate.
• Draft reports and briefing papers to a high professional standard.
• Build strong relationships with internal clients, developers, external solicitors and other stakeholders.
• Mentor junior lawyers and legal support colleagues.
