About the role

Balfour Beatty is offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Engineer to join our Power Transmission & Distribution team. This role has been created due to continued growth within our DNO utilities teams at Lower Thames Crossing.

Working Pattern: Hybrid, with a preference for being onsite at least 3 days a week to provide dedicated project support.

Role Purpose

Leads the development and management of complex construction project schedules, ensuring optimal resource utilization and adherence to timelines. Provides strategic planning oversight, mentorship to less experienced planners, and contributes to project success by implementing advanced scheduling techniques. The scope includes high-level project planning and coordination, playing a key role in successful construction outcomes.

What you'll be doing
  • Ensuring programme content complies with planning procedures and guidance.
  • Identifying planning scope, major constraints, contract requirements, and factors affecting the programme.
  • Collaboratively developing and agreeing on strategic and optimized sequences and methodologies for tendering, ensuring efficient design, procurement, and construction strategies.
  • Producing and documenting comprehensive planning deliverables, including programs, philosophies, presentations, and reports.
  • Developing the Tender Programme and supporting information with precision and strategic insight.
  • Managing the Contract Programme at the contract stage with meticulous attention.
  • Analyzing and advising on project critical paths, maintaining project baselines, and executing change control processes.
  • Managing labour, equipment, and materials efficiently to meet project objectives.
  • Managing contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring performance, and resolving issues.
  • Providing strategic planning oversight and mentorship, leveraging advanced scheduling techniques.
  • Producing project data and KPIs to track progress and support data-driven decisions.

  • Experience in managing construction programmes and leading planning efforts successfully
