Job summary

Shropshire Council in Shrewsbury is seeking a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to manage a portfolio of enforcement cases and provide senior support across the team. The role offers hybrid working – Guildhall, Shrewsbury + home working, 37 hours per week, PAYE pay rate £32.54/hour.

You’ll handle varied caseloads, from minor breaches to significant unauthorised developments, and help shape the enforcement service while providing expert reports and recommendations.

Qualifications

• Strong technical planning enforcement knowledge.
• Excellent communication and sound professional judgement.
• Experience managing enforcement cases and advising on development management.

Responsibilities

• Managing planning enforcement cases from investigation to resolution.
• Evaluating evidence and coordinating with internal teams and external agencies.
• Providing specialist enforcement advice and reporting for decisions.
• Attending Committees, inquiries, court hearings and site meetings.
• Supporting colleagues with complex enforcement cases and appeals.
