Job summary

Cherwell District Council is seeking a Principal Planning Enforcement Officer at Castle Quay, Banbury. The role is full-time (37 hours) with agile working supported and a salary of £50,407.50 to £55,755.50 per annum.

You will lead on complex planning enforcement investigations, manage major developments and breaches of planning conditions, and report to the Planning Enforcement Team Leader in a delivery-focused, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Lead on the Council's most complex, high-profile and sensitive enforcement investigations.
• Investigate alleged breaches of planning control, assess expediency, negotiate resolutions, prepare reports and take enforcement action.
• Manage varied caseload including major developments, unauthorised works, and enforcement appeals.

Responsibilities

• Lead on complex enforcement investigations and ensure consistency in decision making.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring within the Planning Enforcement Team.
• Represent the Council at hearings, inquiries, and planning committees.
