Job summary

Shropshire Council in Shrewsbury is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to join the Planning Enforcement Team. You will lead enforcement cases, provide specialist advice, and support enforcement decisions across a range of investigations.

The ideal candidate has strong enforcement and development management experience, solid knowledge of planning regulations and appeals, and excellent report writing and stakeholder management skills. Local authority experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage planning enforcement cases and investigations
• Provide specialist planning enforcement advice
• Evaluate evidence, prepare reports, and support enforcement decisions
• Attend planning committees, hearings, public inquiries, and site meetings
• Support and guide planning enforcement colleagues
• Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve service delivery
