Job summary

Frasia Wright Associates is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Planning practice in Edinburgh or Glasgow. The role involves advising on major development, regeneration, infrastructure, and energy projects for a diverse client base including government bodies, developers, investors, and corporates.

The successful candidate will lead complex planning advice, support high‑profile schemes, and help grow the practice.

Qualifications

Extensive planning law knowledge with 5+ years PQE.
Strong academic record.
Ability to work independently within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

Advise landowners, developers and planning authorities on a broad range of planning matters.
Handle complex planning applications and environmental assessments.
Draft and negotiate planning agreements (e.g., Section 106, infrastructure, highways).
Advise on Community Infrastructure Levy matters.
Contribute to planning policy, local plans, neighbourhood plans and development orders.
Work on urban extensions, new settlements, garden communities and major mixed‑use schemes.
Manage planning issues arising from major infrastructure and transport projects.
Prepare for and coordinate public inquiries, including instructing counsel.
Handle judicial review and High Court litigation related to planning matters.
Advise on listed buildings, conservation areas, assets of community value and compulsory purchase matters.
Conduct planning due diligence on commercial and corporate transactions including energy, residential, retail and student accommodation schemes.
