Job summary

A leading urban planning and design consultancy in Sheffield is seeking a Senior Town Planner to manage diverse town planning projects. This role involves providing expert advice, conducting feasibility studies, and mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Urban Planning and be a Chartered Member of RTPI, along with strong project management skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in town planning.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Our client is a leading urban planning and design consultancy, committed to creating sustainable and vibrant communities. They work on a diverse range of projects across the UK, from large-scale urban regeneration to small-scale community developments. They are currently looking for a Senior Town Planner to join their team in Sheffield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage planning projects from inception to completion
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and other planning documents
  • Provide expert planning advice to clients, stakeholders, and colleagues
  • Conduct site visits, assessments, and feasibility studies
  • Liaise with local authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Mentor and support junior members of the planning team
  • Stay up-to-date with planning legislation, policies, and best practices
  • Requirements:

  • Degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, or related field
  • Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in town planning
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and policies
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in planning software and Microsoft Office Suite
