Job summary

tdm recruitment is working with a major national housebuilder to recruit a Senior Planner for their Lancaster team. The role covers end-to-end residential applications, appraisals to aid the land team, and managing consultants to assemble necessary technical evidence.

You will negotiate on layout, density, and s106, lead discussions with officers and stakeholders, and report to the Planning Director alongside land, technical and commercial teams.

Qualifications

• A planner from a housebuilder, promoter or consultancy.
• A real understanding of residential delivery and what makes a scheme viable.
• MRTPI welcome but not essential.
• North West knowledge useful, though a good planner picks up a new authority quickly.
• Able to hold your own with a case officer and keep a site moving when it stalls.

Responsibilities

• Run residential applications end to end, from appraisal through to consent and discharge of conditions.
• Site and development appraisals to help the land team decide what's worth pursuing.
• Prepare and submit outline and reserved matters applications, then keep them moving once they're in.
• Brief and manage the consultant team and pull the supporting technical evidence together.
• Negotiate on layout, density, mix and s106.
• Front the business with the LPA, members, stakeholders and local communities.
• Report to the Planning Director, working daily alongside land, technical and commercial.
