Senior Planner/Principal Planner
Location: Stamford
Recruitment are delighted to be supporting an exciting client in the Utilities and Infrastructure industry, who are committed to bringing the UK and Ireland closer to Net Zero every day. Their land, environmental, and geospatial experts work together to unlock the consents needed by our clients to deliver key projects. Their services include land access and assembly, agricultural liaison, planning, environmental impact assessments, and geospatial mapping.
The Environmental and Planning Team is looking for an experienced Senior/Principal Planner to bolster the existing planning expertise in this busy and expanding part of the business.
Candidates are required to:
- Have a relevant planning degree and achieved chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
- Have sound analytical and presentation skills, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills; ideally able to write proposals and advise on larger multi-disciplinary projects.
- Be commercially aware to understand client needs and stakeholder negotiations.
- Be an excellent communicator, eager to learn and develop.
- Have good knowledge of GIS systems and understanding of environmental disciplines.
- Be self-motivated and organized.
- Possess a full UK driving license.
Role responsibilities include:
- Leading or managing a small team to deliver environmental planning services, focusing on technical planning specialisms for projects with varying environmental sensitivities.
- Conducting feasibility assessments, screening, scoping, planning, and coordinating projects per UK environmental and planning legislation and policies.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, technical specialists, and local authorities.
- Reporting to clients, taking ownership of team performance, meeting deadlines, and driving continuous improvement.
- Supporting team and business development, sharing expertise on complex cases, and identifying new opportunities.
- Maintaining professional knowledge through CPD and progressing towards professional memberships like RTPI.
- Monitoring and supporting junior staff development, providing constructive feedback, and delegating tasks effectively.
- Participating in company initiatives and promoting company values.
- Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, contractual, and organizational policies.
