Job summary

Lanes Group is a leading utility services provider recruiting a Senior Planner at our Durrington Head Office. You will work with HGV Tanker Drivers to ensure efficient operations under the Southern Water contract, coordinating tankering of non-hazardous liquids and acting as primary client contact across the region.

The role is permanent, full-time with a 4 on 4 off night shift (6:00pm–6:00am). Location: Durrington Head Office, Worthing, West Sussex. Salary: £40,000 per annum.

  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and networking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Update job details in Big Change / Ortec as new information arises.
  • Close jobs on Big Change if not completed by drivers.
  • Escalate unresolves backlogs to relevant managers.
  • Maintain current and accurate planning, job, and location spreadsheets.
  • Keep shared inboxes organized with timely responses.
  • Capture and log all customer and contractor communications.
  • Track Tankering departure timings via Samsara.
  • Monitor reactive work requests and escalations.
  • Maintain live operative location spreadsheets for deployment accuracy.
  • Coordinate with drivers for dispatch times, routes and availability.
  • Review client requests and assign via Big Change / Ortec.
  • Log changes to job details, site notes and client feedback.
  • Update compliance reports and flag any failings to management.
  • Record downtime and reasons for missed SLAs.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests from lead planner.

Department:
The Logistics Management Centre (LMC)
supports Southern Water's wastewater operations by delivering specialist tankering and treatment solutions across Hampshire, Sussex and the Isle of Wight regions. Working closely with operational teams, the LMC plays a key role in maintaining network resilience, responding to incidents, supporting planned maintenance activities, and helping to protect customers and the environment.

Our Tankering Division provides a flexible fleet resource to manage wastewater movements across the network, while our Treatment Division delivers specialist services to clean, maintain and optimise critical wastewater assets

Purpose of the role:

We are looking for a Senior Planner to work with the team of HGV Tanker Drivers who works across the Region. You will be responsible for ensuring that the work is carried out efficiently in line the Southern Water Contract. The work incorporates tankering various non-hazardous liquids from sites to disposal facilities across the regions. Your work will involve being the main point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
