Senior Planner (MEP)

Location: Manchester

Type: Permanent Position

Salary: Competitive salary, car or car allowance + flexible benefits

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Planner from an MEP background to join our NW team. The main purpose of the role is to plan the allocated high-value / complex projects, producing workable, realistic, and efficient programmes of work that meet contract conditions and internal and client requirements. Plans will be implemented using best-practice approaches such as Critical Path Analysis, Resource Planning, Cost Management, and Progress/Productivity Monitoring and Control. This is a permanent staff position with NG Bailey.

Responsibilities
  • Arrange and facilitate internal integrated planning meetings with relevant project stakeholders to agree on team input into the project plan, working closely with the team and external customers.
  • Produce and agree on a ‘Contract Baseline’ programme for each project, aligning with the formal contract, price, and scope, while reducing risk for NG Bailey.
  • Ensure timely production of planning outputs/reports for contract reviews in conjunction with the Planning Manager.
  • Support operational teams to monitor project targets and establish corrective measures as needed.
  • Monitor progress and productivity against the project plan, producing and circulating reports such as Resource Histograms, 'S' Curves, and Earned Value Analysis.
  • Maintain and update the contract baseline in line with contract changes, such as variations.
  • Communicate change impacts effectively to Operations and Commercial Teams, ensuring variations are integrated into project plans.
  • Perform Time/Risk analysis regularly throughout the project cycle in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Participate in bid activities as requested, working with Business Development in line with Focus Win processes.
  • Ensure all planning activities comply with contractual obligations, internal processes, and external legislation.
Requirements
  • Experience as a planner or senior planner on medium/large-scale MEP projects is essential.
  • Proficiency in Asta or Primavera P6.
  • Construction site experience.
  • Rail project experience (desirable).
  • Experience with NEC 3 contracts (desirable).
