The role – what is it we would like you to do?

Currie & Brown is seeking a senior project planner based in our London infrastructure team. The successful candidate will support project leaders by delivering high-standard project planning services, ensuring successful client outcomes, sharing knowledge across projects, fostering a culture of innovation, and strengthening our reputation as a preferred consultant and service provider. You will be a key member of the project management team, aiding in the delivery of large and complex projects. Your core responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading, coaching, and inspiring a team to develop the next generation of planners.
  2. Analyzing construction projects from all angles to determine the safest and most efficient delivery methods.
  3. Gaining stakeholder confidence and securing buy-in for your plans, including supply chains and subcontractors.
  4. Managing work programmes to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and budget.
  5. Maintaining a strong understanding of project progress through reporting, forecasting, and on-site visits.
  6. Making informed decisions to adapt plans as needed.
  7. Participating in a collaborative planning community to learn and share best practices.
  8. Collaborating across teams to define and update plans, enhancing safety and quality.
  9. Mentoring planners and providing leadership development opportunities.

What skills and attributes are we looking for from you:

  1. Extensive experience in planning services, preferably within construction.
  2. Proficiency with planning techniques and tools.
  3. Understanding of tender documents, contracts, and specifications.
  4. Knowledge of planning methods, programming, and progress monitoring.
  5. Strong team orientation and relationship-building skills.
  6. Resilience and adaptability in changing situations.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Degree or postgraduate qualification in construction or a related field.
  2. Approximately five years of experience as a planner on projects exceeding £20m in value.
  3. Significant experience with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
  4. Experience with infrastructure projects in operational environments is desirable.
  5. Skills in quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
  6. Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, and startup processes.
  7. Knowledge of financial and mathematical reporting.
  8. Familiarity with NEC contracts.
