Job summary

National Grid in the UK is seeking a Planner to provide planning expertise across design and construction of major high‑voltage projects in South Wales and nearby sites. You will own integrated, cost‑loaded programmes, manage critical path, apply earned value techniques and report performance to stakeholders.

The role requires advanced knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6, NEC4 clause experience, and a full UK driving licence, with regular site travel to Pembrokeshire, Swansea, Llandyfaelog and

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Ability to assess change and impact on time risk allowance and forensic analysis.
  • Advanced understanding of NEC4 clauses for Programme Acceptances, Compensation Events and Early Warnings.
  • Full UK Driving licence.
  • Effective stakeholder engagement skills and ability to build strong relationships across multiple teams quickly.
  • Experience carrying out client programme development for initial project phases.
  • Experience in delivery of projects during construction during civils installation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage integrated, cost-loaded project programmes, including critical path and float analysis.
  • Review and validate supplier and contractor programmes to ensure contractual and National Grid compliance.
  • Support tender evaluation by assessing programme quality and deliverability.
  • Apply earned value and planning controls to monitor progress, risks and performance.
  • Analyse schedule variance, early warnings and change impacts, recommending mitigations.
  • Verify progress during design and construction, including site visits.
  • Provide clear programme reporting to project and portfolio managers.
  • Maintain accurate baselines and support regulatory and portfolio reporting.
