Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Planner for a major West Midlands infrastructure programme. The role is full-time with hybrid working; site-based at least three days per week, with remote work possible for the remainder. Competitive salary £65,000–£80,000 plus a car and benefits.

You will develop, manage and optimise detailed construction programmes, collaborating with engineers, operations and commercial teams to ensure milestones are met and risks are managed effectively.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Senior Planner or Planner within civil engineering or major infrastructure.
  • Advanced Primavera P6 experience.
  • A strong background delivering major infrastructure projects (highways, rail, structures, earthworks, heavy civils).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Provide planning support throughout the full project lifecycle, from pre-construction through to project completion.
  • Prepare progress reports and programme updates for internal and client stakeholders.

Job description

The Senior Planner position in the West Midlands is a full‑time role with a Tier 1 civil engineering contractor, offering a salary between £65,000 and £80,000 per annum plus a car and other benefits.

We deliver a major infrastructure programme focusing on earthworks, structures, highways and related packages. Your duties involve creating and managing construction schedules, collaborating with operational, commercial and engineering colleagues to support project milestones. Proficiency in planning software and a background in civil engineering are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Working Pattern

This role offers a flexible approach to hybrid working; however, due to the collaborative nature of the project, you will be expected to be site‑based a minimum of three days per week. The remaining time can be worked remotely, subject to project requirements. For candidates travelling from outside the local area, a travel allowance may be available, subject to eligibility and the client's travel and expenses policy.
