Job summary

WiiGroup in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Senior Planner to join our team, supporting a major mission-critical project. The role requires developing, maintaining, and monitoring detailed project schedules and supporting controls throughout the lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in planning within construction, with pharmaceutical or data centre experience, and strong Primavera P6 and MS Project skills, ensuring milestones are achieved in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in project planning, project controls, or scheduling within the construction industry.
• Pharmaceutical or data centre experience.
• Strong experience developing and maintaining detailed construction programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
• Proven experience on large-scale construction projects such as data centres, commercial developments, industrial facilities, infrastructure projects, or mission-critical environments.
• Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling methodologies, critical path analysis, earned value principles, and progress reporting.
• Experience tracking programme performance, identifying schedule risks, and supporting recovery planning where required.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project delivery teams, subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify programme risks, constraints, and opportunities.
• Experience producing programme updates, look-ahead schedules, progress reports, and schedule performance analysis.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience within live site environments and multidisciplinary construction teams is highly desirable.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
• Professional accreditation such as APM, PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent is advantageous.
• Fluency in English is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
• Monitor project progress against approved baselines and report on programme performance.
• Produce weekly and monthly progress reports, earned value updates, and look-ahead programmes.
• Conduct critical path analysis and identify schedule risks, delays, and opportunities for programme optimisation.
• Support project teams with recovery planning and programme mitigation measures where required.
• Review subcontractor schedules and ensure alignment with project milestones and deliverables.
• Attend progress meetings and liaise with project stakeholders to gather and validate schedule updates.
• Maintain accurate programme documentation and change records.
• Support extension of time assessments and schedule impact analysis when required.
• Assist the project controls and management teams in achieving programme objectives and project milestones.
