The Planning Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and delivering comprehensive planning and scheduling support throughout the entire lifecycle of MEICA-focused water and wastewater projects, from initiation to commissioning and handover. Operating within NEC3 and NEC4 contract frameworks, the role ensures programmes are contract-compliant, technically sound, and aligned with stakeholder objectives. This position is critical for achieving successful and timely project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Development and Management:
- Develop robust, logic-linked baseline programmes (Primavera P6) from limited initial information, leveraging experience in delivering complex MEICA works in regulated water environments.
- Structure programmes to cover all project stages, including key stage gates, hold points, and approval milestones.
- Support and coordinate the development of integrated design, procurement, construction, and commissioning schedules, ensuring alignment across teams and supply chain.
- Contract and NEC Compliance:
- Ensure all programmes comply with NEC3/NEC4 standards, including Clause 31 and Clause 32 submissions.
- Interface with commercial teams to assess early warnings, compensation events, and schedule impacts.
- Assist in preparing and defending entitlement for extensions of time and schedule relief as per contract conditions.
- Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
- Establish project reporting procedures and dashboard templates for delivery teams and suppliers.
- Monitor and update programme performance metrics such as progress, critical path, float trends, and earned value.
- Create regular 4-week and 12-week lookahead schedules and produce monthly reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
- Review and Assurance:
- Validate design, subcontractor, and supplier schedules for integration into the master programme.
- Identify variances, schedule risks, and recommend mitigation actions.
- Track project progress and escalate issues impacting the schedule early.
- Stakeholder & Interface Management:
- Serve as the planning contact for design, site delivery, commercial teams, supply chain, and clients.
- Engage daily with project teams and contractors to ensure accurate and current programme information.
- Coordinate submittal schedules and interface points across contracts and disciplines.
- Team Leadership & Governance:
- Support and mentor planning staff, ensuring high standards and consistency.
- Implement planning governance procedures across projects.
- Collaborate on developing standard tools, templates, and best practices.
- Develop project-specific planning approaches emphasizing positive impacts and engagement.
- Use detailed programme analysis to identify improvements, risks, and strategic decisions.
- Work with project controls to develop adaptable planning reports, maximizing automation.
- Maintain the company's P6 Cloud database, including global and activity coding.
