Senior Planner

Reporting into the Senior Project Controls Manager, the Senior Planner will lead project planning and scheduling within our rail division, utilising Primavera P6. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust project schedules across multiple high-profile rail programmes, as well as leading a team of planners, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance management to drive consistent planning excellence across the board.

This is a hybrid working role with a requirement to be in our Warwick HQ on a weekly basis, and ad hoc travel to other sites on occasion.

What you'll do:
  • Develop, manage, and maintain detailed rail project programmes using Primavera P6, covering all lifecycle stages from tender through design, delivery, and commissioning.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to provide accurate forecasting, progress tracking, and scenario planning
  • Produce integrated programmes across multiple disciplines including signalling, telecoms, electrification, and civils, ensuring interface and access planning are fully incorporated.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in planning by driving best practices, tool development, and internal planning governance.
  • Ensure information regarding the programme forecast is communicated within different business functions to enable appropriate resource to meet requirements
  • Champion planning excellence within Telent, mentoring junior planners, promoting continuous improvement, and contributing to planning process development across the business.

Who you are:

You are an experienced Senior Planner with deep expertise in the rail sector (though candidates from other complex infrastructure backgrounds will be considered), advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, and a strong track record of leading and developing high-performing planning teams.

Key Requirements:
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, with the ability to develop, manage, and analyse complex project schedules.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills, with experience mentoring junior planners and managing planning teams.
  • Proven experience planning large-scale infrastructure projects, ideally within the rail sector, with values up to 100 million.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and engagement abilities, with a track record of collaboration across project management, engineering, and commercial teams.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, with a proactive approach to planning innovation and process optimisation.
