Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd in Cheltenham is seeking a Chartered Senior Town Planner to join our planning team on a hybrid basis, three days in the office each week. The role involves managing a varied portfolio, including residential developments, strategic planning work and commercial instructions, with a strong emphasis on client liaison and project delivery.

You will bring MRTPI status, 3.5–4 years' town planning experience, and a proactive, well-organised approach to deliver high‑quality planning

Qualifications

• 3.5–4 years' experience within the town planning sector.
• Chartered Membership of the RTPI (MRTPI).
• Experience working in a planning consultancy or local authority.
• Strong understanding of the UK planning system and development management.
• Experience working on residential development projects.
• Exposure to strategic planning and land promotion work.
• Ability to work with commercial clients and manage professional relationships.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive, organised and self-motivated approach.

Responsibilities

• Managing and preparing planning applications across a variety of development projects.
• Working on residential development schemes, from smaller to larger strategic projects.
• Supporting strategic land work, including site assessments and planning strategy.
• Providing planning advice and support to commercial clients.
• Conducting planning research, policy reviews and site appraisals.
• Preparing planning statements, reports and supporting documentation.
• Liaising with clients, local planning authorities and other stakeholders.
• Managing projects through the planning process, from instruction to determination.
• Attending client meetings, site visits and planning discussions as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing and preparing planning applications across a variety of development projects.
• Working on residential development schemes, from smaller developments through to larger strategic projects.
• Supporting strategic land work, including site assessments and planning strategy.
• Providing planning advice and support to a range of commercial clients.
• Undertaking planning research, policy reviews and site appraisals.
• Preparing planning statements, reports and supporting documentation.
• Liaising with clients, local planning authorities and other project stakeholders.
• Managing projects through the planning process, from initial instruction through to determination.
• Attending client meetings, site visits and planning discussions where required.

About You

The successful candidate will be an established planning professional with the confidence and experience to manage projects and deliver high-quality planning advice.

You will ideally have:

• A minimum of 3.5-4 years' experience within the town planning sector.
• Chartered Membership of the RTPI (MRTPI).
• Experience working within a planning consultancy or local authority.
• A strong understanding of the UK planning system and development management.
• Experience working on residential development projects.

Salary & Working Arrangements

• Competitive salary of £38,000-£50,000, depending on experience.
• Hybrid working, with 3 days per week in the Cheltenham office.
