Job summary

Cavendish Nuclear invites a Senior Piping Engineer to join our Grimsby or Hessle offices with hybrid working. You will shape safety-critical piping designs for major nuclear projects across the UK, taking technical ownership across stress analysis, pressure systems, and vendor management.

The role requires proven piping engineering experience in regulated sectors, familiarity with ASME codes and 3D modelling, and the ability to work with suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in piping stress analysis and pressure systems in highly regulated industries.
• Proficiency with piping codes and standards such as ASME B31.1, B31.3 and BS EN 13480.
• Hands-on use of Caesar II for pipe stress analysis and PV Elite for pressure vessel assessment.
• Experience reviewing calculations, specifications, isometrics and vendor documentation.
• Experience leading interfaces with suppliers, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

• Reviewing engineering drawings, piping layouts and 3D models to ensure compliance with technical and industry standards.

The role
As a Senior Piping Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design, analysis and delivery of safety-critical piping systems supporting major nuclear projects across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your advanced mechanical and piping engineering expertise within a highly regulated environment while broadening your nuclear industry experience through structured development and re-skilling opportunities.
You'll take technical ownership of complex engineering activities across stress analysis, pressure systems, vendor management and multidisciplinary project delivery. Working as the intelligent customer for specialist suppliers, you'll directly influence the successful delivery of nationally significant projects that support the UK's energy and defence capabilities.
Day-to-day, You Will Be

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Grimsby or Hessle offices, with hybrid working available and an expectation of three days per week on site.
Essential Experience Of The Senior Piping Engineer

• Proven experience in piping stress analysis and pressure systems engineering within highly regulated industries such as power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical, energy, process, defence or nuclear.
• Strong knowledge of piping codes and standards including ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3 and BS EN 13480.
• Hands-on experience using Caesar II for pipe stress analysis and PV Elite for pressure vessel assessment.
• Experience reviewing and approving engineering calculations, specifications, piping isometrics and vendor documentation.
• Experience managing technical interfaces with suppliers, subcontractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
