Job Summary

A development opportunity has arisen for a senior physiotherapist to work as part of a friendly and supportive team on a 21-bedded GP-led rehabilitation and complex discharge ward.

The post is based at Monnow Vale Health & Social Care Facility in Monmouth and involves ward-based work as well as providing follow-up services into the community covering a large rural area.

The successful candidate will collaborate with nursing and healthcare support staff, a ward social worker, an occupational therapist, and a therapy technician. There are ample opportunities for shared training, working, and support within the wider integrated community team.

Main duties of the job

  1. Provide physiotherapy services to a 21-bedded, GP-led ward.
  2. Assess and intervene with patients with various diagnoses, focusing on rehabilitation and complex discharge needs.
  3. Conduct complex assessments related to moving and handling, specialist seating, and bed positioning.
  4. Participate in weekly multidisciplinary meetings and family meetings.
  5. Maintain a person-centred approach, with a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and its impact on assessment and intervention.
  6. Proficiency in Welsh is desirable; applications from Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Physiotherapy, HCPC registration.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate experience with diverse diagnoses including dementia, neurological, orthopaedic, and respiratory conditions.

Experience

  • Essential: Specific clinical training, knowledge of physiotherapy assessments and interventions, ability to analyze professional and ethical issues, experience of building effective relationships, autonomous working, excellent communication skills, and willingness to travel within the area.
  • Desirable: Experience with complex moving and handling, community settings, and Welsh language skills.
