Job description
Overview

What does rehabilitative palliative care mean to you? Does it mean enabling someone to live as well as they can, with independence within the limitations of their illness? Could you take on this challenge to support our patients in Herefordshire?

Working as part of the therapy and wider multidisciplinary team, Band 6 senior therapists use specialist skills in a variety of areas to provide direct high quality and effective therapeutic care and support to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Independently plan, complete specialist assessment and deliver interventions.
  • Independently manage own patient caseload, demonstrating clinical autonomy, specialist clinical reasoning, prioritisation and manage competing demands.
  • Receive supervision from senior therapy staff, including formal training, supervised sessions, advice and support.
  • Initiate and contribute to service development; demonstrate self-development; supervise others and delegate appropriate tasks to registered and non-registered staff.
  • Participate in 7 day working and for physiotherapists to join the on call rota once competencies have been achieved.
  • Maintain a clinical caseload of patients, providing specialist assessment and treatment as part of the multidisciplinary team within St Michael's Hospice, demonstrating clinical autonomy.
  • Be approachable, forward thinking, innovative, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Band 6 Physiotherapist; experience in palliative care is desirable but not essential.

Wye Valley NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to work at St Michael's Hospice Hereford. Based in the village of Bartestree, approximately 5 miles east of Hereford city, St Michael's Hospice has been providing care for the local community for coming up to 40 years. Rehabilitative palliative care is at the heart of our work at St Michael's.
