Job summary

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Physiotherapist to work as an autonomous practitioner within an integrated multi-professional team, managing a caseload and assessing patients with complex pathologies.

You will provide therapy interventions, rehabilitation programmes, adapt equipment, and supervise Therapy Assistants, with a focus on patient-centred care and education for peers and students.

Qualifications

• Registered physiotherapist with current HCPC registration.
• Experience in community settings desirable.
• Experience supervising staff and students preferred.

Responsibilities

• Autonomous practitioner within a multi-professional team.
• Assess and manage own caseload of patients with complex/pathologies.
• Provide therapy interventions, rehabilitation programmes and equipment adaptations.
• Keep patient at centre of care with carer involvement in decisions.
• Support and educate peers, new staff, non-registered staff and students.
• Supervise junior staff and Therapy Assistants to deliver high-quality care.
• Teach and support Therapy Assistants to achieve competencies.
• Be accountable for delegated caseload held by Therapy Assistants.
• Prioritise referrals and allocate or signpost accordingly.
• Deliver a high standard of care across community settings, including lone working.

Senior Physiotherapist - Development Role

• To work as an autonomous practitioner within the integrated multi-professional team.
• To be responsible for own caseload and undertake assessment of patients with complex and multiple pathologies using specialist clinical reasoning skills.
• To identify patient needs, agree goals and provide appropriate therapy interventions, provide adaptive equipment, rehabilitation programmes, and make recommendations for minor adaptations in line with current legislation.
• To keep the patient at the centre of care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision making
• To provide support and education to peers, new staff, non-registered staff and students.
• To supervise junior staff and students, overseeing patient intervention and ensure that Therapy Assistants deliver high quality patient care.
• To be actively involved in teaching and supporting Therapy Assistants to achieve competencies.
• To be accountable for a delegated caseload held by Therapy Assistants.
• To prioritise all referrals according to clinical need and to allocate or signpost appropriately.
• To provide a high standard of care.
• To work in various community settings, this includes lone working, with access to Clinical Leads when required.
