Qualifications

  • Significant work experience (post qualification) of hospital pharmacy.
  • Experience of systems maintenance for machines in Hospital Pharmacy Environment.
  • Working knowledge/experience of writing policies and procedures.

Job Overview

Would you like to be part of an innovative, dynamic and forward thinking pharmacy team? We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician with ambitions of managing acute hospital pharmacy services. We are seeking a competent and motivated individual who will bring knowledge, enthusiasm and energy to our Team, based at the Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr (YYF).

The post holder will lead, organise and manage the Pharmacy Procurement and Distribution service to wards and departments at YYF and peripheral site.

The applicant must have evidence of excellent communication skills. It would be beneficial to have demonstrated experience of leading a team and a broad-based clinical knowledge and procurement and distribution practices.

You will be working in a patient focused and forward thinking department, supported by skilled and friendly colleagues. Being a member of the YYF site management team, you will be expected to lead on site based projects that contribute to the general work of the Pharmacy department.

Working as part of a team is essential as the role involves working closely with all sections of pharmacy services to ensure acute care patients receive optimal pharmaceutical care.

Main duties of the job

  • To lead, organise and manage the pharmacy procurement and distribution services to wards and departments serviced by YYF.
  • To manage Procurement and Distribution staff at YYF including taking responsibility for appraisal, sickness absence management, recruitment and selection and undertaking performance reviews.
  • Provide specialist support on the pharmacy computer, Robotic dispensing system and Omnicell systems, ensuring the accuracy, functionality and security of the system.
  • To support the Pharmacy ABUHB Education and Training team in delivering training programmes within the Pharmacy department at YYF.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
