Qualifications

  • 3+ years post-qualification experience in community/hospital pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems and legal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Pharmacy team in providing pharmaceutical services to prisoners.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the in-house dispensary.

Skills

Job description

As lead Pharmacy Technician you will, under the guidance of the Prison Pharmacist and senior management team at HMP Styal, lead the Pharmacy team in the provision of a safe, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical service to prisoners (hereafter known as service users).

Main duties of the job

This role involves mentoring and developing the skills of the wider pharmacy team by improving patient safety in line with the national strategy for medicines optimisation and pharmacy services. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the in-house dispensary, ensuring efficiency and consistency.

Qualification
  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Accredited technician checking qualification
  • Higher degree or equivalent experience
  • Management or clinical qualifications relevant to prison healthcare
Knowledge
  • Medicines optimisation issues
  • Pharmacy legal requirements and controlled drug legislation
  • At least 3 years post-qualification experience in community/hospital pharmacy
