We are currently transforming our clinical pharmacy service across NHS Fife, as an integrated pharmacy service across hospital, primary care and specialist teams, under a new Head of Pharmacy for Clinical Services. The aim is to join up care for our patients across transitions of care and ensure the best outcomes for patients with their medicines.
An opportunity has arisen for a full time post for an experienced pharmacy technician registered with the GPhC with proven post qualification experience to join our integrated pharmacy team. You will be based at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy but will be required to work across NHS Fife Hospital sites providing support for clinical trials.
You will work collaboratively with Pharmacy and Research & Innovation departments to deliver the pharmacy components of clinical research in NHS Fife. You will be involved in all pharmacy aspects of clinical trials including development and implementation of trial specific pharmacy procedures, managing files, dealing with research teams, laboratories, sponsors and the dispensing of trial medication. You will also have sessions to enable you to maintain your checking qualification and clinical skills.
You must be able to work independently or as part of the pharmacy team and wider multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills are key attributes required to successfully deliver this role.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
