We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP The Mount, a category C training prison built on the site of a former RAF station on the outskirts of Bovingdon village, Hertfordshire.

In this role, you'll be working with a multi-disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed.

Hours

Site operates a rolling shift pattern, working long days for 3 weeks, followed by 1 short week.

Monday to Friday: 07:30 - 17:30
Wednesday to Friday: 07:30 - 15:00

Salary

This position is full-time, with an annual salary up to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising pharmacy technicians and supporting the development of junior staff
  • Overseeing the administration and medicines management across primary care and substance misuse wings
  • Providing health promotion advice on topics such as smoking cessation, hypertension, healthy living, and minor ailments

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent
  • Accuracy Checking Technician qualification
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Up-to-date with Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Relevant post-qualification pharmacy experience

Job responsibilities

As a GPHC-registered pharmacy technician with Practice Plus Group, you will:

  • Provide high-quality, patient-centered care by listening to and acting on patient feedback, ensuring personalized and informed care.
  • Maintain patient medical records to the required standards and follow standard operating procedures diligently.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of pharmacy technicians, including work planning, resource allocation, supervision, and appraisals, in collaboration with the Pharmacist.
  • Deliver non-judgmental, professional care, including timely medication administration and cost-effective prescribing based on our medicines policy.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to make a meaningful difference.
  • Foster strong links within teams, partners, and stakeholders, providing trusted, safe, and proud-of service.
