Job overview

The Pharmacy Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support dispensing functions within the department, primarily in the Aseptic / Outsourced area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for dispensing and preparing drugs for outpatients, inpatients, and patients receiving injectable medicines such as chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, total parenteral nutrition, and radio diagnostics.

Main duties of the job

• Dispense and prepare drugs for all patients as required, assisting the pharmacy workflow by prioritising workload under the guidance of supervisors.
• Check drugs issued by pharmacy staff, ensuring accuracy in stock issues and computer records.
• Liaise with pharmacy and nursing staff regarding medicine supply, and manage the recycling or safe disposal of returned medicines according to policy and procedures.
• Work within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with relevant standards (Good Practice, GMP, GDP).
