Job summary

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join the pharmacy senior leadership team. You will manage the trust-wide medicines supply, lead a team of technicians and support staff, and develop safe, cost‑effective medicines management across CNTW sites.

The role includes leadership of performance indicators, procurement oversight, and deputising for the Lead Technician and Specialist Technician in their absence.

Qualifications

• Qualified Pharmacy Technician with post qualification experience.
• Registration with GPC is essential.
• Accredited Checker of dispensed items is required.
• NVQ Assessor (A1/A2) and verifier qualification.
• Management qualification at degree level or NVQ4/Diploma is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and coordination of medicines procurement, storage and supply across the Trust.
• Oversight of Procurement, Stores and Dispensary teams and development of objectives.
• Line management of Dispensary, stores and procurement staff; training and mentoring.
• Recruitment and workforce planning.
• Provide cover for managers within Dispensary and medicines systems teams.
• Monitor departmental audits and governance; report KPIs.
• Lead pharmacy input into Trust-wide initiatives and seasonal vaccination programmes.
• Accredited checker duties as per rota; medicines incident investigation and action planning.
• Develop and maintain SOPs.
