Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Assistant - Technical Services. A fantastic opportunity has arisen in Southend Hospital to join an organisation with a reputation for excellence in the way it cares for the people it serves.
The Pharmacy Technical Services Unit comprises the Aseptic Unit, Pre-pack unit, Radiopharmacy and Cytotoxic unit. The post holder will provide support services to the Pharmacy Technical Services department, including the ordering, receipt, storage and supply of Pharmaceuticals and other stocks, the manufacture of aseptic products in both the aseptic and cytotoxic unit.
Responsibilities will include assisting senior staff with support duties essential to the smooth functioning of the unit, cross site working, early and late finishes, Saturday and bank holiday rota, and maintaining operator validation.
The role will involve supporting Pharmacists and Technicians in providing a high quality pharmaceutical services within the Aseptic production unit Radiopharmacy and Pre-pack unit to meet the needs of the Trust and external customer requirements whilst following set departmental standard operating procedures.
Duties will include compounding of all aseptic medicines, performing dose calculations for chemotherapy drugs and radiopharmaceuticals, packing, labelling and inspecting of over labelled / repacked items, and communicating with service users to ensure timely supply of prepared products.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Pharmacy Assistant to join the Pharmacy department. The successful candidate will have basic maths and English skills, Microsoft office word and excel skills, and experience working in a team and to procedures.
