Job summary

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is inviting applications for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant in Technical Services at Royal Blackburn Hospital. The role is Band 3, permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) with some weekend and bank holiday requirements. Salary around £25,760–£27,476 per annum.

The post involves aseptic handling, stock management, and training duties within the Technical Services department, supporting safe, cost-efficient use of medicines and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 certificate in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification.
• Supervisory experience using leadership and training responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate stock levels of medicines and consumables.
• Input orders into computer systems and manage receipt/return of stock.
• Assist with training of pharmacy assistants and technicians; maintain training records.
• Undertake cytotoxic reconstitution and aseptic dispensing under COSHH and national standards.
• Support oncology/ aseptic services teams and ensure quality assurance procedures are followed.
• Waste management and disposal of returned pharmaceutical products in line with SOPs.
