Job Summary

The Senior Pharmacist Cancer Services will oversee and ensure the provision of high-quality pharmacy services to the staff of UHSussex West pharmacy department and cancer services. The role entails significant responsibilities, including deputizing for the Lead Pharmacist during absences and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provision of Pharmacy Cancer Services: Deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical services to the cancer services directorate, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Deputizing Duties: Act as the Accountable and Responsible Pharmacist during the Lead Pharmacist’s absence, overseeing all operations under section 10 of the Medicines Act within the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist the Lead Pharmacist in addressing recommendations from external regional QC inspections, and ensure compliance with the Department of Health standards under the direction of EL(97)52.
  • Clinical Participation: Engage in consultant ward rounds, multi-disciplinary team meetings, and case conferences as needed in the absence of the Lead Pharmacist Cancer Services.
  • Service Development: Contribute to the development and delivery of a safe, efficient, and effective pharmaceutical aseptic service to the cancer services directorate.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all facilities meet the standards assessed by external audits.
