About the Team

The Chemical Analytics team at ICIS comprises over 50 employees located across various offices and regions. Team members have expertise in specific value chains (e.g., olefins, aromatics, polyolefins, vinyls). The team has diverse backgrounds including research, engineering, and economics. Analysts work closely with colleagues in other functions, regions, and time zones. The position is based in Europe, preferably at our London headquarters, with a hybrid work model requiring at least two days in the office weekly. Regular interactions with colleagues and clients across different regions and time zones are expected.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Analyst to join our rapidly expanding Chemical Analytics team. The team focuses on quantifying and analyzing chemical markets to help customers understand market dynamics, reasons behind trends, and future outlooks. Analysts will lead the production of short-term price forecasts for designated commodities, manage supply and demand balances, and work directly with clients to interpret data and market nuances. There is also scope to enhance analytical models to improve existing products and develop new offerings.

Responsibilities
  • Price forecast and market analysis:
    • Produce regular short-term price forecasts for assigned commodities and regions.
    • Gather and analyze news and developments, supporting content teams.
    • Engage with industry contacts and clients to understand needs and market shifts.
  • Supply and demand analysis:
    • Lead activities related to the ICIS Supply and Demand Database.
    • Provide insights on industry developments, investments, production, demand, and trade.
    • Develop expertise in key demand segments and long-term supply trends.
  • Client engagement:
    • Lead client engagement activities, build market contacts, and improve product analysis.
    • Participate in conferences and webinars, representing ICIS.
    • Support sales initiatives.
  • Develop analytics models:
    • Lead the development and enhancement of models related to production data, demand, costs, and pricing forecasts.
    • Collaborate with content and data science teams.
Requirements
  • Experience in commodity markets, with a background in technical, commercial, or research roles. Experience in chemicals or refining markets is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret and communicate findings effectively.
  • Excellent storytelling skills to present complex information engagingly.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate in analyzing market dynamics.
  • Comfort in engaging with clients and building relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in science, engineering, economics, or a related field.
