Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a permanent Consultant Radionuclide Radiologist with special interest in PET-CT/Nuclear Medicine. The post supports a busy regional PET Centre and a large Nuclear Medicine department with extensive radiopharmacy services.

The successful candidate will report on PET-CT and general nuclear medicine studies, participate in MDTs, and act as an ARSAC practitioner.

Qualifications

• Entry on GMC Specialist Register; eligible for entry on Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development including CME
• Higher degree (e.g. MD or PhD) desirable
• Dual CCT (Nuclear Medicine and Clinical Radiology) desirable
• Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in Clinical Radiology
• Experience in reporting and supporting SPECT CT studies
• Experience in reporting PET CT and all aspects of the clinical service
• Ability to take part in on-call rota
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
• Knowledge & understanding of Clinical Governance and Audit

Responsibilities

• Duties include reporting of general nuclear medicine and PET-CT studies and participation in MDT meetings
• Support a comprehensive Nuclear Medicine service including imaging and non-imaging studies
• ARSA C licensed IR(ME)R practitioner responsibilities and safety oversight
• Participate in out-of-hours Nuclear Medicine guidance and ARSAC on-call duties
• Contribute to teaching and training of staff in the department
• Develop clinical sub-specialities and engage in service expansion as PET contracts grow
