Job summary

Sumer Group, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, is seeking a Tax Senior to manage a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, from sole traders to owner-managed businesses, with the opportunity to work with larger, more complex clients.

You will prepare Self-Assessment tax returns, P11Ds and CGT computations, liaise with HMRC, and support juniors. ATT qualification is preferred; strong advisory knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• ATT qualification (or part-qualified) or qualified by experience.
• Proven experience within a similar role.
• Strong technical expertise in personal tax, partnership tax and Capital Gains Tax.
• Experience in coaching and training junior members of the team.
• Sound tax advisory knowledge in owner managed businesses covering IHT, CGT, Income Tax and Company Tax issues would be preferred but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Preparing Self-Assessment personal tax returns efficiently and accurately
• Preparing P11D forms, advising on benefits in kind and preparing PAYE Settlement Agreements
• Preparing Capital Gains Tax computations and in year CGT on UK Property returns.
• Communicating with colleagues from other departments, clients, and HMRC by telephone, email, and in writing where required
• Ad-hoc assistance with tax queries and projects
