Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting is seeking a Senior Performance Tester to deliver hands-on load and performance testing across large-scale digital services and backend applications, with experience of working with cloud-based distributed services such as AWS.

This is a technical, delivery-focused role in governed environments where performance, resilience, and scalability are critical to service success, requiring collaboration with developers, platform and operations teams in a regulated public-sector

Qualifications

• Experience designing and executing load, stress, volume, soak, and scalability tests.
• Ability to analyse performance results, logs and system metrics to identify bottlenecks.
• Experience with cloud-based distributed services (AWS) and CI/CD.
• Experience with APM tools (e.g. Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Elastic/Kibana/Grafana).
• Familiarity with GDS and public-sector or large programme delivery.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute load, stress, volume, soak, and scalability tests
• Analyse performance results, logs, and system metrics to identify bottlenecks
• Gather and Validate performance NFRs, volumetrics, and capacity assumptions
• Prepare and maintain performance test scripts and execution runbooks
• Execute tests in cloud-hosted (AWS) non-production environments
• Raise performance defects with clear technical evidence
• Support CI/CD integration for performance testing where required
• Contribute to test reports, defect triage, and test completion evidence
• Work closely with developers, architectures, platform, and operations teams
• Strong experience in performance testing of enterprise systems
• Hands-on delivery using tools such as JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner, k6 (or equivalent)
• Solid understanding of APIs, HTTP, databases, messaging, caching
• Backend and distributed system performance characteristics
• Experience analysing logs and monitoring data
• Familiarity with Agile and hybrid delivery models
• Experience working in regulated or high-assurance environments
• Experience with APM tools across digital services
• Public-sector or large programme delivery experience
• Familiarity with GDS

• Works under the direction of a Lead Performance Tester or Test Manager
• Accountable for timely delivery of agreed performance testing activities
