Job description

Senior Performance Analyst - Intelligent Quality

Scotland, United Kingdom

Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

How’s this for job satisfaction? At Scottish Water we look after Scotland’s most precious natural resource. From source to tap, we’re guarding Scotland’s reputation for refreshingly pure water, and caring for our environment at the same time.

In our new SR27 investment period, Scottish Water will be spending £1 billion per annum on our capital programme, increasing investment to ensure we can replace or upgrade ageing assets and support the move towards achieving our strategic ambitions. Our team – Intelligent Quality (IQ) Team, is responsible for providing quality assurance on construction across the capital programme. Our team are here to support our Delivery Vehicles in reducing the number of avoidable errors and building quality assets that last for their design lifetime. Our aim is to assist in delivering a programme that provides great value and enables service excellence.

Sound good? We are currently looking for a Senior Performance Analyst with a background in data analytics and audit. With the recent successful launch of a digital remote assurance application, we now have a direct insight into our capital programme and partner organisations through a quality assurance lens. The analysing of data and trends from this digital application will ensure we operate with facts and make impactful evidence led changes in the capital programme. This role will play a key part in ensuring our customers get great value and service excellence.

What you’ll do

Utilising your strong network, you’ll work closely with Scottish Water teams linked to the Capital Programme and our Delivery Partners to identify and promote quality best practice or emerging trends. Occasionally you will be required to lead and support partner quality management system audits.

Developing tools and reporting mechanisms to enhance our knowledge of quality will be a key aspect of the role. On understanding the data and trends from these reports, you’ll take the lead in defining improvement action plans across our Partner community.

Working alongside the existing team Senior Performance Analyst, you’ll play a key role in the day to day running of our digital remote assurance application, whilst also analysing the data and outputs it provides.

Other duties will include ensuring our delivery model is producing value for money and utilising out cost of quality data to track and report on non-conformance and defect data compliance.

Finally, you’ll scan the horizon for quality opportunities internally and externally to ensure we’re continually improving and evolving our practices.

What you’ll need

You’ll bring a proactive, data-oriented mindset and be confident in championing the evolving quality culture within Scottish Water, the Capital Investment supply chain. You’ll have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret, evaluate, and act on quality data to identify and facilitate improvement opportunities. Your willingness to ask questions and challenge the status quo will be key, as will your ability to promote and embed previous successes while addressing areas for improvement.

You’ll excel at building relationships, collaborating with a diverse range of individuals, teams, and organisations involved in delivering the capital programme. You’ll also have excellent facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills. You’ll approach your work with confidence, engaging effectively with stakeholders at all levels, while maintaining a self-motivated attitude to managing your workload and meeting deadlines. Familiarity with standard Microsoft 365 software tools and a willingness to learn new systems will also be important.

Familiarity with Scottish Water’s operating model would be an advantage. Experience in report generation, data analytics and audit will be strongly advantageous, along with formal qualification in Quality and Quality Management. Further experience in root cause analysis or investigation is desirable, but we’re happy to provide training if needed. While it’s not essential, holding a full UK driving license would also be helpful, as you'll occasionally need to travel to partner offices and sites.

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

This role will be a Grade 7. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £41,000. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £51,970.

If you’re interested in this role – or know someone else who might be - we’ll be accepting applications until midnight on Tuesday 17th June 2025. And we’re aiming to do interviews for this role on 24th or 25th June.

Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. Screening is conducted on our behalf by a third party, and must be completed before your start date. Don’t worry - we’ll only start these checks once you’ve accepted an offer.

A few final things worth knowing…

Research shows that some people avoid applying for jobs unless they can meet every single criteria. If you’re interested in this job, but don’t tick all the boxes, apply anyway! We hardly ever hire people who can do every part of a job from Day One. Everyone has a learning curve. So don’t rule yourself out!

Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask.

As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don’t already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.

Finally (finally!), candidates who haven’t submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You won’t need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted.
