Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced HR practitioner to provide expert employee relations guidance and advisory support. The role focuses on terms and conditions, policy interpretation, and compliant resolution across the People Advisory Team.
You will coach managers, support recruitment and redeployment, and contribute to data analysis, training delivery, and change initiatives within a large NHS workforce.

You will be able to provide expert support and guidance to employee relations processes within the Trust, supporting managers, staff and colleagues to deliver timely, just and compliant resolutions of cases. We are in the process of introducing a restorative, just and learning culture, across all are HR practices and processes. We capture and analyse employee relations data in order to identify to the Business Partners trends within their areas of responsibility for intervention.
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of professional knowledge and practice across the People Advisory Team, supporting colleagues to develop their skills and professional capability. Promote and embed a Restorative, Just and Learning Culture (RJLC) approach across people casework, ensuring practice is consistent, reflective and focused on learning and improvement.
The People Advisory Team is part of the People & OD Department which includes People Operational Services, Leadership and OD, Recruitment, and Professional Education. Our team provides a People Advisory service focusing on employee relation casework, and production of key employee relation statistics, but also encompassing reward and retention initiatives, delivery of training and other related HR interventions to support over 12000 colleagues working across both Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Managed Services (GMS).

1. To advise managers and staff in the interpretation and application of terms and conditions of employment, Trust policies, current legislation and codes of practice, ensuring that good employment practices are maintained and legal obligations are fulfilled.
2. To provide expert professional advice and support to managers in dealing with employee relations issues and, where appropriate, to act as case handler in casework involving discipline, capability, grievance, and the management of sickness absence ensuring that practice complies with Trust policies and procedures, are fairly and consistently applied, and that good practice is maintained.
3. To coach staff and managers in Human Resources issues where appropriate, ensuring that all advice is accurate and compliant with Trust policies, the law and good practice, and to support the L&OD team, where relevant, in the creation and quality assurance of relevant training content.
4. In conjunction with the recruitment team and the Recruitment Manager, to provide professional advice and support to managers in dealing with recruitment, selection and redeployment issues.
5. To ensure the appropriate documentation of all employee relations casework.
6. To provide administrative and analytical support to preparation work for employment tribunals and relevant legal disputes.
7. To prepare employee relations reports, and provide analysis and recommendations, ensuring that accurate HR performance management information is provided, analysed and necessary action identified.
8. To support the management of change within the organisation, including involvement in the handling and co-ordination of redeployment matters, consultation with staff and trade union representatives, counselling and assisting with redeployment initiatives, ensuring that change is implemented smoothly.
9. To undertake project work, ensuring that the aims and objectives and high standards are met and that the Trust makes effective use of its resources.
10. To quality assure and, on occasion, deliver HR-related training in partnership with the L&OD team.
11. Any other duties, which fall within the general scope of the job description and band.
