Job summary

Referment is a UK analytics and actuarial consultancy. You will join the pensions and investment technology department, focusing on defined benefit modelling, benefit configuration, and asset-liability modelling for pensions consulting. The role blends technical modelling with stakeholder collaboration.

You will lead benchmarking, work with developers, and help communicate changes to users, with opportunities to contribute to AI and automation initiatives within a dynamic consulting environment.

Qualifications

• Breadth and depth of pensions modelling knowledge to engage with stakeholders and developers.
• IFoA qualification or willingness to pursue pensions-focused credentials.
• Experience testing or using actuarial modelling software to expert level.
• Strong Excel skills; C#/VBA desirable.
• Consulting mindset: responsive, clear communication across multiple projects.
• Logical, methodical approach and pride in tool quality.

Responsibilities

• Define technical specifications for calculation and modelling systems.
• Design, build and own benchmark tests for key functionalities in a risk-focused way.
• Collaborate with in-house developers on new features and updates.
• Document and reflect changes in professional requirements for actuarial models.
• Contribute to AI innovations, automation, and collective defined contribution schemes.
• Share pensions knowledge through training, mentoring and recruitment.
• Support and improve a large existing system to adapt to changing needs.
