Base pay range

We are pleased to be partnering with a Council to recruit a Senior Pensions Advisor. This role will act as a subject matter expert on the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), working as part of a dedicated team to deliver the day-to-day operations of the Council’s pension service.

Calculate and verify redundancy and early retirement payments, liaising with the pensions administrator to ensure accuracy and timeliness
Advise on pay data for absences (e.g. sickness, strike, parental leave) and check related pension calculations
Manage onboarding of new employers and admitted bodies into the LGPS Fund accurately and on time
Control, monitor, and reconcile LGPS contributions with payroll providers, resolving discrepancies promptly
Ensure correct administration of AVC deductions and accurate reporting to schemes and members
Support the management with records, reporting, training, and guidance to payroll administrators

Candidate profile:

Excellent working knowledge of Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) regulations
Proven experience in a pension advisory role
Experience working within a local council environment
Strong understanding of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), Discretionary Payments Regulations, the State Pension Scheme, as well as HMRC and The Pensions Regulator requirements relating to pensions

Contract type: Temporary, 3 months with the possibility of extension

Working hours: Full- time, 36 hours per week. Part-time working will be considered

Location: London (1 day in the office per week)
