Job summary

Referment is recruiting a qualified pensions actuary to join its growing UK actuarial consulting team. You’ll split your time between pensions actuarial work and pension risk transfer, advising trustees and sponsors across schemes of varying size.

You’ll coordinate calculations, review advice with junior colleagues, and take a central role in broking insurance transactions within the risk transfer team. Training is provided; strong communication and client-facing skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified pensions actuary with UK consulting experience.
• Excellent UK pensions technical knowledge.
• Ability to review actuarial valuation and member options calculations.
• Awareness of current UK pensions issues.
• Ability to draft clear communications and presentations.
• Ability to delegate tasks to junior team members.
• Commercial awareness and budget-minded.
• Strong organisational skills and team player.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate actuarial calculations with less experienced colleagues and review those calculations along with the associated advice.
• Within the pension risk transfer team, take a central role in broking insurance transactions, liaising and negotiating with insurers, attending meetings and managing projects.
• Work on schemes of varying size, from small to large and complex.
• Take opportunities to join other specialist teams, for example covering longevity, GMP equalisation and Collective Defined Contribution schemes.
• Attend industry networking events.
