Job summary

Pullman Fleet Services is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist for a 12-month maternity cover, fully remote with occasional travel to our Head Office in Doncaster.

You will own end-to-end payroll, manage Time & Attendance, ensure HMRC compliance, work with ADP iHCM2 and Kronos, and resolve payroll queries while supporting operations and payroll data integrity.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in payroll and Time & Attendance.
  • Experience using ADP iHCM2 and Kronos Workforce Ready is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, HMRC requirements and payroll legislation.
  • Confident processing payroll independently and working to strict deadlines.
  • Excellent numeracy, literacy, organisation and administration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process, from payroll input through to reconciliation, approval and submission.
  • Prepare and process accurate payroll data, including starters, leavers, contractual changes, amendments, overtime, SSP, SMP, pensions and other payroll adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate Time & Attendance data, including timesheets, schedules, holiday accruals, manual punches, absence, sickness and overtime reporting.
  • Prepare payroll files, off-cycle payments and CHAPS requests for authorisation and approval where required.
  • Resolve payroll and Time & Attendance queries, escalating complex matters where needed and helping prevent recurring issues.
  • Provide second-line system support to managers and users, including reporting, administration, system updates and basic training.
  • Identify payroll risks, system issues and data concerns, working with internal teams and external providers to resolve them.
  • Support payroll compliance activity, including HMRC reconciliation, pensions, PAYE, National Insurance and year-end/start-of-year requirements.
  • Create and manage purchase orders in Business Central for external vendor invoices.
  • Build strong working relationships with operations teams, managers, internal departments and external stakeholders.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior payroll specialist to join us on a maternity cover contract and take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process. This is a key role within a fast-paced, multi-site business, supporting accurate payroll delivery, Time & Attendance processes, payroll compliance and day-to-day colleague pay queries.

This is a 12 month minimum maternity cover with the potential to become a permanent role.

Salary: Up to £40,000 DOE

Hours of work: Monday – Friday 09:00 to 17:00

This is a fully remote role, with occasional travel to our Head Office in Doncaster.

About the role

You’ll be trusted to manage payroll independently, work closely with operations and support teams, maintain accurate system data and ensure colleagues are paid correctly and on time. This role would suit a confident payroll professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail and experience using ADP iHCM2 and Kronos Workforce Ready.

What we’re looking for

  • Good computer skills, including Word, Excel, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Relevant qualifications in payroll, bookkeeping, accounts or finance would be desirable.
  • Experience in accounts, bookkeeping or office administration would also be beneficial.
