Company details and job overview:
Kenton Black Finance are currently recruiting for a Senior Payroll Officer on behalf of an organisation that is based in the Blackpool area. This organisation was founded over a 130 years ago and is gradually expanding. You would be required to supervise two payroll officers and help carry out a monthly payroll for circa 1000 staff. You would get an exceptional pension, 32 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), and the option to buy more annual leave should you want to.

Your new role as the Senior Payroll Officer:

  1. To ensure the accurate and timely production of monthly payroll and associated deductions
  2. To ensure legal compliance with (company) financial regulations and associated procedures
  3. To provide a professional and consistent high level of customer service across (company)
  4. To deliver accurate monthly and annual reports relating to payroll
  5. To maintain comprehensive audit trails for internal and external stakeholders
  6. To liaise with external stakeholders such as auditors, ensuring appropriate payroll records are maintained and required returns are completed in an accurate and timely manner
  7. To develop, update and maintain (company's) payroll systems, Itrent
  8. To identify and deliver process improvements to enhance the payroll operation
  9. To supervise payroll colleagues

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills required to apply:

Qualifications:

  • Level 4 Payroll qualification or equivalent, or willingness to commence study within 12 months of employment (study support is on offer)
  • Level 2 in English and mathematics or equivalent, or willingness to undertake within 12 months of appointment

Experience:

  • Previous experience of working in and processing payroll with a minimum of 500 employees
  • Using, developing and maintaining payroll systems
  • Using payroll systems to produce reports and financial information
  • Adhering to payroll legislation, pensions and HMRC requirements
  • Working in a fast-paced environment working to deadlines
  • Previous line management of a team (not essential)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly effective customer centric approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or on own initiative
  • Organised approach with a focus on attention to detail
  • Good data manipulation skills with the ability to produce accurate reports
  • Knowledge of Itrent payroll system (advantageous)
  • Knowledge and evidence of Digital Fluency including possession of Microsoft Innovative Educator Certification or willingness to obtain within three months of appointment

Salary and Benefits on offer:
Salary: From £33,000 to £36,000
