Job summary

Bachy Soletanche Limited is seeking an experienced payroll professional to manage monthly payrolls across multiple UK entities. The role covers starters/leavers, statutory payments, pension auto-enrolment and complex deductions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The ideal candidate has solid end-to-end payroll experience, strong Excel skills and the ability to coordinate with HR on payroll-related issues. This on-site role offers varied responsibilities and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Process monthly payrolls for 500+ employees across four companies.
• Manage starters, leavers and contractual changes.
• Calculate timesheet-based payments (overtime, subsistence, probationary sick pay).
• Process statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.).
• Administer court orders and payroll deductions.
• Process shadow payrolls for overseas employees.
• Manage car and car allowance payments and deductions.
• Carry out payroll validation and reconciliation checks.
• Review payslips and payroll reports prior to completion.
• Produce monthly payroll journals and reconcile general ledger.
• Support post-payroll administration and maintain payroll records.
• Act as a key contact for payroll-related queries.
• Work closely with HR to resolve employee and payroll issues.
• Prepare supervisor bonus spreadsheets and distribute for scoring.
• Weekly payroll cover for 200+ employees across three companies.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly Payroll Processing

• Process monthly payrolls for 500+ employees across four companies.


• Manage starters, leavers and contractual changes.


• Calculate timesheet-based payments, including overtime, subsistence and probationary sick pay.


• Process statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and other statutory entitlements.


• Administer court orders and other payroll deductions.


• Process shadow payrolls for overseas employees.


• Manage company car and car allowance payments and deductions, including fuel deductions.

Benefits & Pension Administration

• Administer salary sacrifice schemes.


• Process employee share scheme deductions and manage payments to the scheme provider.


• Manage pension administration, including:

  • AVC deductions and National Minimum Wage compliance checks

• Complete pension uploads and maintain pension portals.

Payroll Controls & Compliance

• Carry out payroll validation and reconciliation checks.


• Review payslips and payroll reports prior to payroll completion.


• Ensure HR and payroll records remain aligned.


• Complete National Minimum Wage checks and liaise with HR regarding any exceptions.


• Produce and submit RTI information and issue P45s.

Reporting & Financial Administration

• Prepare monthly payroll journals.


• Complete general ledger reconciliations.


• Support post-payroll administration activities.


• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.

Payroll Support & Administration

• Act as a key contact for payroll-related queries.


• Work closely with HR to resolve employee and payroll issues.


• Support monthly payroll control checks.


• Prepare supervisor bonus spreadsheets and distribute for management review and scoring.

Weekly Payroll Cover

• Learn and provide cover for weekly payroll processing for 200+ employees across three companies.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• Previous end-to-end payroll processing experience.


• A good understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance requirements.


• Experience administering pensions and auto-enrolment.


• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


• Good Excel and system skills.


• The ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.


• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.


• A proactive and organised approach to work.

Desirable

• Experience within construction, engineering or a similar operational environment.
